"Companies exist to make money" sure, but it doesn't excuse them doing it in shitty way. Even if the manpower was merely shifted to existing projects, then those projects would be done faster and better. Instead we get offered reheated leftovers. That's simply not good enough in my book.

Most of the ports are actually outsourced so really there is little to no shifting of manpower for many of these ports. And otherwise as already said bringing an existing game over can actually help speed up development as you can ensure smoother development of new titles.

For example

"This was a little bit like Christmas, in the sense that you get to spend five months exclusively working on engineering problems," says Gyrling. "That was wonderful, but from a business standpoint it just makes so much sense to tackle all the difficulties of shipping on a new platform with an already made game." Shekar readily agrees: "Shipping this game means that Uncharted 4 will not be our first PS4 game. The first game on a new platform is very difficult to do, and now we've already done that."
