Happy to see that KH3 already has 14k preorders on Xbox One despite the fact that we've only seen 2 gameplay teasers and have no release date. And people say that Xbox owners don't like JRPG's xD

Compared to 52k on the PS4. I can see why that stereotype exists.

You also have to remember though that previous KH games have never been on Xbox, this is mostly Xbox One woners like myself who have played previous KH games on other platforms that are preordering it. If Square Enix would have release 1.5 and 2.5 HD on 360 or Xbox One preorders for KH3 on Xbox One would likely be even higher.

The fact remains that Japanese devs are passing up a significant number of sales by not going multiplat. Especially this gen since porting costs are reduced due to the fact that PS4 and Xbox One share a more similar architecture than 360 and PS3 did. It's like Japanese devs hate the extra profit.

There is a caveat to this.  Japanese devs supported the X360 in Japan but there were multiple instances where companies suffered from lackluster sales.  The reason is because it still costs money to support a platform, to pay developers and to promote your project.  Unless Microsoft is subsidizing costs, you may not be able to recoup.  Therefore supporting the more popular PlayStation makes business sense.   Microsoft understood this with the 360 but this gen, they seem MIA in Japan.

While some may see it as futile, I believe that Microsoft just didn't have enough time to build an exclusive Japanese catalog for the launch there; and in the face of incredible competition in the US, where the dominance is being challanged, opted to through their largest effort into the West.
