There's some massive bias in this list. With the non Nintendo games they're adding all genres together under one series, while they're clearly splitting genres off on the Nintendo side.
How fair is it that they add every Mega Man game including exe titles, the fighting games, racing games, ports, remakes, compilations, etc, and then with Pokemon they only count the Pokemon generations. They don't count the spinoff games like Pokemon Dash, Snap, the Mysterious Dungeon games, Pokemon Conquest, etc, etc, etc. This is true for pretty much everything on the Nintendo side of the list.
Also, when people say Mario, they don't mean Mario specifically, but that world. Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 1-3, Super Mario Bros 2 USA, Super Mario World 1-2, Yoshi's Story, Yoshi's New Island, New Super Mario Bros 1, 2, Wii, Wii U, Luigi U, Warioland 1-4, Super Mario Land 1-2, and Super Princess Peach. I'm probably missing some but right here are 21 "Mario" platformers and this is before you even get into the 3D stuff.
