Worst of Zelda is still better than most other games.
I don't think it's the worst one myself. I would give that to Skwyard Sword(a great game). Skyward Sword just had too much handholding. The sword play was fun, but it kind of weighed heavy later in the game and diminished it somewhat.
I like TP as my 2nd favorite 3D Zelda. I thought everything was pretty much spot on. I really liked the wolf sections. I hardly think gimmick qualifies as it was woven into the narrative and the gameplay sections and exploration options were really well done. It wasn't just an attention getter, which is what a gimmick really is.
On another note, I would have to say gimmick is the mostly widely thrown around word in gaming. It's usually used to describe something that doesn't appeal to someone.
