That seems like a lot of speculation. The 3DS has a lot of games yet, it is selling in a similar pattern as the vita. Sales are mostly in Japan while North America and Europe the sales have declined a lot compared to last gens handhelds. Look at the links; the vita was dead on arrival it never took off in N. America and Europe.

Sorry, but your excuse that the Vita has no games seems idealistic. The console never did good and giving the Vita more games would have likely led to a very small amount of a continual sales rate increase outside of Japan. It is just not worth it to Sony to waste more capital on a failed handheld.
