Amazon is not an authority on sales. Its used to measure trends. Its effect is even less so when considering software sales. COD could just sell more over the counter than it sells online. And I would expect this to be true of all games, especially those that have midnight launches at retail stores and those that command an audience like COD. Why wait for a game to come in the mail when you can just go to your store at night? Besides, do you really think more people would have gone out to buy a remaster than a brand new game in a very very popular franchise just a few days from eachother? |
Indeed.
According to Amazon the order of CoD skus from most sold to least should be 360,PS4,Xb one,PS3. Which I doubt anoyne would believe is true. So the order in which games appear on amazon best sellers is not a definitive predictor of the nationwide situation.
As was demonstrated in the Oct NPD thread Amazon was pretty good at predicting which games would be in the top 10 (8/10) but it was not good at predicting the order of the top 10.
Given CoD has been more popular in the USA on Xbox than Halo since the 2008 (the last Halo game that outsold a CoD game released in the same year was Halo 3 vs the original Modern Warfare) it should come as absolutely no surprise that AW will sell more than MCC.
I see SO is dropping away in a fairly standard fashion which suggests legs won't be especially long. 500K lifetime in the USA looks to be a reasonable target. UK 100K will be a very good achievement. Can the rest of the world give it 400K+ to crack the million (at retail)?
