All wii games will look bad on a 60 inch HD tv... that's not the game's fault, it's simply how things are.
And as someone who has played through the entire game, I can tell you that the game is amazing after those first few boring hours. I guess it's not a game for everyone, but for me, it definitely is in my top 3 favorite LoZ games of all time. So I'd definitely recommend you to give it another go (on a smaller tv perhaps if possible?). For the controls part, the gameplay was very fluid for me. It does take a bit of adaptation to appreciate those new controls, but once you get the hang of it, you really begin to appreciate them. Atleast, that's what happened for me.
When I first got SS, I played it the first few hours (like you) and I quickly gave up on it due to the boring and extremely long turtorial. I then came back to it a full month later, and I never looked back after that. I was surprised at how good the game actually was after the turtorial. I find it sad that many people gave up completely on SS due to it's super long and tedious turtorial. It's really a masterpiece IN MY opinion.
In short, yes, I think that you should give it another go!
