Fair, I haven't played this one yet, but I wasn't overly impressed with the jumps from 64 -> GC -> Wii versions of the game, they just weren't substantial enough. Plus I may have killed the game back in the 64 days. It's been recycled the least number of times, but honestly is the most similar to its original iteration which kind of makes it the most recycled.
To note, I think annual releases are a mistake and a ton of franchises have worn thin for similar reasons. Likely why Wii Sports was so big (it was hugely different at the time), and why (imo) Splosion Man is one of the best games of last gen. I also never understood the re-purchasing of sport games every year, but then I'm not a big fan of em to begin with.

smash isn't recycled at all. there's a lot of effort put into balancing it and adding content.

Compare SSB franchise to every other fighting franchise.... Whats recycled now??? :)

No arguing that for the most part, the only franchise that has made any stride forward has been Mortal Kombat's single player mode (the story integration was great, and well borrowed by Injustice which was, I dunno, alright.), one of the reasons I more or less stopped buying fighters a decade ago. Well that and I kept going back to MvC2.
But obviously the Smash love is alive and well these days, I'm sure a lot of people will have a blast with it.
