Vague term. You should define what a gaming generation is then and ultimately that gets us to the same question.

The Wii sorely went after a specific crowd, with a specific type of software and has a toxic legacy as a brand. It lost gamers. It lost publishers.

That's you. "Casual gamers" is pretty much self explanatory. You might look down on Fifa but the people that play it are loyal (as costumers) and commited (as gamers) as it comes. Can you say the same about Wii Fit U for Wii U  ?

 

A console geneartion starts when a company releases the successor to a console. It can also be a new console. And casual in my opiniom is someone who only buys the same thing every year, or anything that is very advertised.
