Depends if those things were considered flaws in the original I suppose. A remake is a chance to fix things that were problems in the original. But it should not necessarily be expected to completely modernise the game.

Having said that if someone were to remake a game like Icewind Dale I would want them to use more modern D'n'D rules for the game and not use the D'n'D rules that were in place at the time, merely because that's how it was in the original. So it's not totally black and white.

But see that is the thing.  Pokemon always does update its game mechanics.  Pretty sure Omega Ruby has Fairy type pokemon.  They will have the new moves and all what not that have been added since its original release.

To me the review seems to be docking the game becuase it didn't like its setting.  That would be like docking Assasins Creed 4 because you are not a fan of sailing or water.  your biased.  And no, don't say there may be people out there like you that would like your review.  If there are people out there that hate sailing/water they will ignore AC4 the moment they see a 15 second trailer.  They don't need your review giving the game a bad score in order to pass it up.

EVERYONE ARE BIASED! You're not a human being if you don't have personal preferences and opinions! There's no such thing as an objective review!

I also have to ask, did you read the review? It's docking points because there is a huge abundance of water-type pokemon which makes battles be repetetive, and because it's tedious and annoying to move in the water! It's not because this writer has a bias against water and wants it all to go away, it's because the mechanics assosiated with water are poor! So the more water there is, the more you'll have to make use of those poor mechanics, which leads to annoyance, and it should remove points dammit!

Here's the only example of an unbiased review:

Now tell me, was that a useful review? Is that the type of reviews you want?

I think you're mistaking an unbiased review for a review that matches your biased opinion. (I'm not flaming here, as I said earlier, we all have biases)

No I didn't read the review, and haven't played the first game either.

But yes he is baised.  He is docking the game for its CORE MECHANIC, which is a water, island, water based game.

Be like if I reviewed AC4 and I hate ships, pirates and warm weather.  Then I bitch about seeing too many pirates or having to sail.

I should NOT be reviewing the game.  We need someone impartial.  I LOVE Pirates and ships, so I shoudl not be reviewing AC4.  The same as one who hates that shoudl not be.  It takes a 15 second trailer to weed out bad reviewers.  If I show someone a AC4 trailer we should be able to tell who is insanely biased one way or the other.  Same with Pokemon game.  It's like a Jury in Court.  If I go in and instantly am like "the black guy did it"  you can bet your ass I'll be off the jury panal.  I'm clearly racists or biased.

Now all the trailers I have seen for this pokemon game, this seems a very water based game.  I'm not a big fan of surfing in pokemon, thus I put it on my pass list from the very first trailer I saw.  This reviwers should have done the same, and thus not been one to review the game.  He clearly is biased before coming in.
