Complete misuse of sarcasm.

AC adapters came indeed free with previous Nintendo handhelds that had built-in batteries. An AC adapter is obviously a standard thing for a device that runs on a built-in battery; without one, you can't use the device beyond its initial charge.

If the 3DS didn't use common SD cards, Nintendo would probably sell them separately too.

Those weren't "free" either. The adapter came with the handheld, but I am pretty sure the adapter is included in the price.

Without the adapter the DS would have been cheaper as well.
