This is about shipments.  

No, this is about Sony telling people that they've sold through 10 million PS4s, which some people just refused to believe, but those same people take "we'll soon have shipped 10 million units, lol" from MS as a confirmation that they are basically at the edge of 10 million units at this point, while this, in true MS fashion, sounds like pure PR spin once again.

One is as clear and open as possible, while the other is ambiguous and can be interpreted in a myriad of ways.

#1 Who didnt belive it?  They said it, why wouldnt someone believe it?  I belive they sold 10m and I believe MS have (by now) shipped 10m.

#2 Can you define "pure PR spin" in this context.  What would you say, in your educated and informed opinion, the shipments are?

If you have no evidence to the contrary then you should always believe what is said by any of the companies until you can prove otherwise, or else you risk sounding as bad as the people you are having a go at.

 

#1 ioi for starters. When VGC wasn't updated after the 10M announcement and people asked why, ioi pretty much said "I don't know where the numbers come from, and I'm not going to trust just one source" and people on here followed suit.

#2 I don't know what the shipments are, myself, but don't you think it's odd that the shipments went from 7.4M at the end of September to "near 10M" 5 weeks later? On a console that barely moved 2 million throughout the year (January to August)...moving over 2 million in October (which is still a slower month of the year)? You think that "near 10M" has nothing to do with bumping production up for the holidays (holidays always gives a boost in sales) in conjunction with a price cut and aggressive bundling (also helps boost sales) and then using those inflated figures to make things look "good" when they knew they were about to lose the NPD? That sounds like spin, to me. And it worked, because people here are really thinking that XBone is near or above 9M sold, when we have NPD, Chart Track, Media Create, etc. when added up, show that VGC is pretty close to what XBone has sold LTD
