However, the way I see it is, Sega should just take a moment to think about all the crap they've done to this series and realize why people liked it in the beginning - then hire some talented people and make some good games. No one needs yearly Sonic games, even if they're good - let alone if they're terrible.

Sega no longer needs Sonic to sell consoles, so at this point they're just milking the franchise for all it's worth.  They're not going to invest resources into Sonic, especially after this disaster.
