Remember when MS announced 5 million sold to consumers back in August, then quickly took it down (probably because it was wrong)

Based on how it was selling throughout 2014, 5 million would have been too high (hence the post removal/edit), so in August, it was below 5 million. But let's run with that number anyway. 5 million as of August.
That means that anyone who believes its sold 7.5-8 million, right now, believes that it sold 2.5 to 3 million units in the last 2 months. Barely managed to scrape up 2 million sales in 8 months, but you believe it's done 3 million in 2 months. And not November/December, but September/October.
Let that sink in.
