As someone who grew up with mario, zelda and Pokemon, I have no idea what a good sonic game is. The only sonic game I have played so far besides those random emulated ones on the internet (and I never completed those) was Generations which I completed. My main problem with that game was the old sonic since modern sonic just... well he was easier for me.

From that game since a lot of you consider it good, a good sonic game would be fairly fast and challenging with a few on rail sections. (keep in mind I beat it about a year ago and never went back).

Quite frankly, I feel sorry for sega. I see them as the kind of developer that is damned if they do damned if they don't when it comes to their sonic franchise. Sonic boom should have been pushed back to an early February/January game to iron out the bugs and make the gameplay more robust. From what I've seen its not a bad game, its just unpolished. Rushing is what kinda screwed it over (the Wii U version that is). I've heard a lot of positives about the 3DS version though.

I think sega needs to do 2 things. The 1st is sit down and think sonic over properly. Ask other developers if need be for ideas and take their time and craft a solid game that focuses on speed, on rail sections etc along with a good 3D plane for home consoles. They can do it, they just need a push.

The 2nd is go to nintendo and do a sonic and mario PLAT FORMER cross over. No joke, This would not only move Wii Us but it would be something fans of both series have wanted for the past decade. and we know nintendo wont allow a mario game to be bad so they'll work hands on and delay if need be with this one.

Those are just my two cents on sonic.
