Actually, lately I´m paying more attention to friends and Miiverse users opinions than website reviews before buying any game.
There´s a number of games that recieved bad reviews but I enjoyed them a lot: Doctor Lautrec, Epic Mickey Power of Illusion, Project Cross Zone (3DS), Wii Party U, Just Dance 2014, Scribblenauts Unmasked (WiiU). I didn´t buy Sonic Lost World but loved the demo - probably I would enjoy the game a lot too.
I read reviews just to have an idea of what features each game has, but not as a reference for buying. For that, personal opinions are just more reliable
