I think they are a business, not a sports team. Winning isn't everything in business. Actually, it means very very little. There are hundreds of thousands of businesses out there that aren't #1 at what they do, but they are still very happy with the position they are in.

Though I agree with him that Microsoft would love to be "#1", I think they realize at this point that that's probably far out of reach and would rather just remain relevant. In a business, winning is important, yes, but staying afloat is just as important.


I dunno if microsoft are struggling to even win in their hometown, there will be conversations 2-3 years down the line as to whether they presume the PS5 will dominate too and whether there is a point to releasing a next gen xbox
