Mario Kart 8 stage is a perfect example. Look at the textures, much worse than the original game.

So SSB has to be > Than MK8? I dont know about much worse and beside MK8 is a beautiful game, while smash just looks good. WiiU Games that look very good are SM3DW+Captain Toad+MK8. Not all games have to look as good as these. (that said LoZ looking very good graphically and imagine a metroid/F Zero)

When you're just going to copy paste an entire stage out of the game I expect it to be at least of equal quality yes. It's a 2D game, so it should look better than a 3D game.

I disagree, Especially looking at Galaxy games vs NSMBWii and SM3DW vs NSMBU.
Also copy+paste, then how would that effect the entire game? That would mean every stage has to be that detailed/upgraded/etc. Its a fighting game on top of that. Are fighters suppose to have mind blowing graphics especially in the background?
SSB looks good as it is. Not every game has to look 110% in the graphics department.

The NSMB games are probably some of the most laziest games Nintendo ever made. They look terrible. Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze however looks gorgeous. Yet NSMBU somehow has a higher metacritic score... Guess that proves how full of shit "professional" reviewers are.
