The thing is that the new consoles just work better when everything is digital. The whole pause/resume feature is downright broken when multiple disk games are involved. Call me lazy but I hate swapping those disks...and even seeing them stacked in the living room bugs me. I recieved Dead Rising 3 few weeks ago on disk. The game has a 16 GB patch after initial iisk install...Halo MCC is something like 20 GB patch on day 1. The physical disks for these games is downright useless by themselves and serve just as a showpiece in the living room while DLC is the actual game. If I could go visit friends for a night and bring my disk games with me to play right away, I would see a purpose for them. But they sometimes take up to an hour to install and if the game has additional DLC that has to be installed, forget about playing it at all that night. |
I choose discs for long term investment. Unless the companies can provide my DL's will work on my PS3 in 30 years. PSN being shutdown etc. Like my NES does, for example. Cause that HDD is gonna fail long before the system hardware does. And I'd just fix it. HDD data, not so much. Well, intill the PS3 OS is fully hacked. And I can backup the drive at will.
