And how exactly does the Wii-U itself "shine" there? None of the games use the gamepad in any notable way, all the games would be possible on other systems. Probably even on ps3 and x360 for the most part. So the unique gameplay doesn't come from the hardware but is purely software.

MiiVerse -> GamePad drawing (!!!)
Nintendoland -> GamePad, WiiMote & Nunchuck as FPS controller
Mario Kart 8 -> Steering Wheel
Wii U Fit -> Balance Board, Fit Meter
Super Mario World -> any Controller + GamePad
Art Academy -> GamePad drawing (!!! user drawings -> OMG !!!)
Wii Sports Club -> WiiMote+ . Best Tennis and Golf EVER !!
WindWaker HD -> GamePad used to switch between weapons (BIG advantage over the traditional controller) + Gyro-Controls in FP-mode
Wii U Panorama View -> GamePad immersion
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze -> horizontal WiiMote to feel like classic NES controller
Oh - and of course it can play the Wii software too - in case someone did miss some excellent titles:
Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz -> WiiMote tilt-control at its best.
Red Steel 2 -> FPS and sword fighting
Zelda Skyward Sword -> 2D sword fighting, FP flight steering
Wii Sports Resort -> WiiMote+ as its best: bow shooting, wave racing, etc.
Excite Truck -> WiiMote as NES Controller with motion controlls
Donkey Kong Country Returns -> WiiMote as NES controller with shaking (BIG difference than pushing a button...)
007 GoldenEye -> Wii Zapper
and last but not least, the KING of FPS controls:
Metroid Prime -> WiiMote and Nunchuck at its finest. Nothing beats this immersion
With the release of Amiibo the user interaction just expands further... .
