Amazon of Japan have added a new listing for a 3DS version of Mario Maker, the create-your-own take on everyone’s favorite platforming franchise. The game was originally announced for the Wii U only at E3 2014.
Previously when quizzed about a possible 3DS version, series-co-creator Takashi Tezuka said
“Yeah, a 3DS version is possible. You’re the first person to ask about this! (laughs) I have thought about it. But right now we think it’s best for the Wii U Game Pad. I don’t know if a 3DS version would work the same exact way, but maybe if Mario Maker does well on Wii U and people really love it, I might consider doing something for 3DS. Right now, the Wii U hardware has a lot more power, so you can fit a lot more enemies and elements on the course. That’s why we prefer this hardware. But of course, I am interested in the idea of a portable version.”
Since Tezuka made that statement Nintendo has revealed the New Nintendo 3DS which features an increase in power. Several games are in development exclusively for the enhanced hardware. This listing could simply be in error, or Amazon could be jumping the gun of a future Nintendo announcement, do you think Mario Maker would a good fit for the 3DS?
