Nintendo would never make an online-only game.

I think the core part of the game is still the multiplayer mode, the single player is just kind of an extra.

There's a difference between "online-only" and actually having an extensive single player campaign with characters, villains and whatnot.

This is extremely unlike Mario Kart or Smash Bros. in that sense.
Yeah, Splatoon is going to be big. Hopefully. A must buy, that's for sure.

Kudos to Nintendo for taking a chance with an original IP rather than making Mario Paintball, but still this game will be lucky to sell even 1/5th of MK8 or Smash.
