The wii u is weak hardware and no pretending that every wii u game is unoptimised changes that. It's strength is in its graphic's system compared to ps3/360 but in cpu terms it is even weaker. If a game exists on ps3, 360 and wii u it's likely to be inferior on wii u unless its a racing game or a 2D game with low cpu requirements. I'm happy with this as I love the wii u exclusive games but it's pointless buying a wii u version of most non exclusive third party games unless the price is cheaper or they add value like additional gamepad functionality.

I have picked up a lot of wii u third party games cheap and sadly they don't match the quality of 360 almost all the time or ps3 most of the time. Nintendo set the bar too low with wii u technically and have made it extremely difficult for developers to create games of competitive performance on wii u by third party developers. I think ubisoft should be congratulated for really trying to support the wii u and have probably lost a lot of money on wii u development. Watchdogs ends that third party support it seems but at least they tried. If other developers had done the same the wii u would probably be in a better position now. Ultimately though the weak hardware of the wii u always made it uncompetitive in the marketplace. This time around they have failed to sell weak hardware at high prices in high numbers.

Already I have seen watchdog offers for all earlier versions and the wii u version is likely the weakest at the highest price. Six months down the line I'll probably pick it up for a fiver from the bargain bin out of curiosity. I was never that interested in watchdogs anyway. The gameplay looked naff and the reviews confirmed it. More hype than gameplay and that hype has already died.
