I would prefer Zelda, but not Mario, over CoD. But I prefer Uncharted, Tlou, God of War, Sinister, Buzz (I hope we get another Buzz) and more besides over Zelda. And having CoD present on PS doesn't at all diminish the unique content PS has on offer. What it does do is greatly increase the user base, which as Reggie says, allows more games to sell well.

Good on Nintendo for swimming in its own pool. it's up to them to make others see that thier pool is the best to swim in, but they are not doing a very good job of it.

Whether Nintendo can forget about the console wars and develop a business model where selling about 20 million consoles per generation is decently profitable is an interesting question. A small but stable and profitable niche is actually a pretty good place to be. Especially if you can all but ignore the competition. The less you have to actively compete the better. A product that sells itself is best of all.

You get CoD every year. Mario 3D platformers come every 3 years perhaps. Even longer for Zelda games. Unless you also mean all the spin-offs, then we get Mario titles every year, but they're totally different games, so it doesn't matter.

I don't know what that has to do with what I wrote. I don't care a bit for CoD, never bought it, never played it. But I certainly see significant advantage for it being on PS.

OTOH, for Nintendo CoD has never been much help in terms of market share. Even when it had the best version of a CoD game (Black Ops II I think it was) it didn't do much for them. And that is certainly because of the annual release timeframe for the franchise. All the CoD gamers knew that the next CoD game would be on PS4/Durango (the name hadn't been announced yet), and no doubt the next CoD game would be visually better on the next gen PS/Xb platforms. And it seems no one is particularly fussed at tablet controls. So almost no one is ever going to buy a Nintendo platform for CoD. But the benefit of CoD being on Nintendo is that a Nintendo fan who also likes playing CoD would not feel drawn to get another platform for playing CoD, which means Nintendo securing all, or almost all of that person's game purchases. If someone buys another platform for CoD because it's not on Nintnedo, then they will likely buy other games for that platform, which then dimininishes the software spend on Nintendo.
