Sony will need to drop the price by at least $150 IMHO. I reckon it will need to be between $150 and $200 and should happen by around November time. A $100 drop simply won't cut it at all. $499 is still a huge price to pay. I reckon it need to hit the $399-$450 barrier to make an impact.
Similarly in the UK, the RRP need to drop from £425 to £299. This is the pricepoint Sony need to get to to start shifting units.
All in all though, they need to start producing the games and releasing them this year.

Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.
PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)
PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)
