You know, for all the asinine choices Nintendo makes in terms of marketing, I actually feel the concept of the Direct and the Digital Event (as well as the Treehouse Live thing at E3) are ahead of the curve. It lets them deliver a lot of content to a lot of people at once without being filtered through other media sites that may not decide to cover it. It makes them appear more active and engaged with their customers than other companies. Really, they should have some kind of ad or something attached to their commercials to direct to their YouTube and specifically the Directs. They are basically like press conferences only open to the public.
