Well I tried it a bit with the Wii wheel and it was ok on 50cc. I tried 100cc with the wii wheel and did f*cking terrible! Then I switched in the "classic controller" and did even better in 50cc and won the gold on that same 100cc I failed hard at w/the Wii Wheel.
Well it looks like the Wii Wheel is going back in the box for me and I'm sticking w/the classic controller (maybe I should get a GCN controller, though I've never played on a GCN, hehe). Maybe its because the SNES MK was always my favorite and I NEED my standard controller with it :-O
(Maybe my gf might like the Wii Wheel...oh well at least it was free w/the game)
