I agree it's a bit overdue. But it's not something that has hurt them at all, as far as the majority of their customers are concerned. They still haven't stopped selling out, so they can afford to delay content until it is most beneficial to them. Why waste energy rushing games out when the machine practically sells itself?

And, again, it's still to Nintendo's benefit that the machine doesn't have an HDD because that would cost them significantly more and would cut into their profits. The machine sells very well without an HDD, and it leaves them with an opportunity to sell an add-on or upgrade later. They exist to maximize profits, and that's what they are doing.

Really, for what their aims are as a company, they are doing fantastic. Maybe you feel like it's a rip off, but many millions flatout disagree. And if Nintendo is overcharging but still selling the things like hotcakes, who really cares? That's what they exist to do: provide a product and make money off of it. I don't like all of their decisions either, but they are not stupid and they haven't made a mistake yet as long as we're talking about dollars and cents, barring their fear of producing more consoles.
