Rituals arn't exactly cliche tho. Rituals are something you do to honor and respect the past. Like easter eggs in games. While cliches are things that are over done to the point that they betray original thought. Like Mario 3d world for example, great idea with original thoughts/ideas/features. However the fact that you not only had to rescue yet another princess but you had to rescue 6 of them was cliche.
