Oh for battle mode it just adds up the scores for each team member and has that as the team score.
When you go online, you start with 5000 points for racing and 5000 points for battling and the scores are always separate. As you win or lose you gain and lose points. If your team has 10 hits to 5 hits, your team wins, and you each win points. If one team member had 9 of the hits, he or she will get most of the points, and the biggest loser loses the most points. Coin battles work the same way.
Scores are added and subtracted to/from your 5000 points after every single round, and then maybe somebody will join or somebody will drop out, and it just keeps going until you quit. Only once did it drop below 6 people, and I quit and rejoined a new game of 7, and that game got 1 or 2 new players each match until I played one with all 12 of us.
This was all without friend codes, because I don't have any friends. I don't know if friend battles and races will have more options or what. I bet they will.
I don't know what's up with Miis in the game. You get to pick your Mii and put it on your "driver's license" for your save file with all your stats. And so far a couple of the levels (I haven't even played them all yet, online took over my night) have Miis in the backgrounds watching Wii Sports Tennis style. I thought you'd be able to play with Miis? Was that just a rumor? Will it be unlockable or something?
