Nintendo's been trying to force feed Metroid down people's throats as a "Halo killer" for ages now. It just isn't.
Metroid is too cerebral/slow paced of a franchise to appeal to the "dudebros" crowd. You would have to make a Metroid game that basically had nothing to do with Metroid to make that work, which they sorta tried to do with Other M.
