I totally understand. I think Sonic 06 is a misunderstood game. The problem with it was that it was rushed into release when it was still in beta form. Apart from the love romance that Style was perfect for a new generation of Sonic. It was the adventure series for the new generation, but the thing was criticised so much that everything in the game is seen as terrible. In fact it was an unfotunate game that got pushed by corporate greed before it was ready for release.

I'm not so sure it was rushed into release so much as it was rushed into production. The game has a lot of good ideas (mach-speed, upgrades, adventure-field, but they share space with a lot of bad ideas that should have been cut before they even started (Amy, Shadow's Vehicles, Silver boss fights). The foundation for a good game was there, but I don't think they had time to fully flesh it out before they had to get started.
