2.5 to 3.5 million isn't realistic at all. Considering that the highest selling MGS game hit about 7 million, you are predicting that the much smaller group of PS3 (compared to PS2) owners will be able to manage to get upto 50% of the lifetime sales of the best selling MGS game within a week of the next installment's release.
Also have to take into account that MGS3 Snake Eater only hit 3.7 million, and that the PS2 outnumbers the PS3 worldwide by at least 10 to 1.
MGS4 will most likely not hit halo-esque sales, because as a series, MGS has never had that mass audience appeal that Halo has.
I'd say MGS4 will hit 1 million in the first week, anything above 1.5 million is a little optimistic IMO.
