i personally believe that at this point gamergate is a fool's gambit

it started with exposing a lack of integrity in journalism and i completely respected that

however, now it seems to be actually about attacking zoe quinn and anita sarkesian more than about getting to the bottom of the rabbit hole with regards to jounralism

when i first heard about it i was like people who aren't aware before that the media is only there to control their perception are now paying attention? this is great!

but now several weeks later i personally don't see any progression with regards to an investigation into journalism

zoe quinn actually gave a great description of the current situation in a recent interview where she said and i'm paraphrasing

that what people who back gamergate aren't acknowledging is that the power structure that decides what media is put out there and by extension what the population thinks is far deeper than the writers and even those who supervise the writers

also this power structure is not exclusive to video games it controls all of the media we consume in that what we are exposed to in the media is directly a result of how it benefits those with the deepest pockets or the most power

which means that if the truth is inconvenient it will not be displayed in the media

so now instead of actually analysing this power structure and how it works we have loads of gamergate people focused on how many men zoe quinn slept with

so to me ultimately all gamergate is going to achieve is to add to the idea that gamers are female hating losers
