You do realize that Shania Twain's Come On Over is the highest selling country album/highest selling female solo album of all time right? Also, The Woman In Me sold 12 million copies. Looks like Taylor Swifts highest is Fearless, which sold a little under 9 million copies.

Okay, but that was in 1997 when sales were higher. Even Shania could NEVER EVER pull off the sales #1s in 1 week that Taylor Swift is doing.

I'm not denying that it's an accomplishment. I was honestly wasn't stunned when I saw the news myself. I knew the album would be huge. But it's kind of difficult arguing hypotheticals, especially considering the vast majority of those artists that were mentioned paved the way for Taylor to transcend to pop music.

If it weren't for Shania and Faith Hill, pop radio wouldn't have been nearly as accepting of Taylor Swift as it currently is. Just as if it weren't for Reba and Dolly , It's possible Shania and Faith Hill wouldn't have had as much success as they were in the early 2000's/late 90's. It's not about disrespecting Taylor or anybody else. For me, it's moreso about knowing the roots of an artist and showing them the respect they deserve.

I completely understand where you're coming from. I just feel like Taylor was the first country artist in years that pop radio took under it's wing.
