I'll choose consoles anytime. Sure, PC have the power advantage over the console, and that's a fact. But I don't have to deal with assembling every part of a rig and dealing with software problems here and there. Also, I do enjoy the plug and play aspect consoles provide.
Months ago, I started playing Warframe with a friend who convinced me to play. I know a free to play game is not the best example, but I wasn't willing to spend money on a game when I have a laptop that doesn't possess a good graphics card. Playing with a twitchy mouse was a nightmare, not to mention the horrendous input lag. I managed to connect a PS3 controller and it sorta worked, still with input lag. Then, I started getting connection problems and I couldn't connect to my friend. I stopped playing.
Something that cemented my choice to game in consoles was when I saw the minimum requirements for Assassin's Creed: Unity minimal requirements, and PC gamers were angry, claiming that they didn't have the graphics card necessary to play the game effectively. Sure, it's Ubisoft's fault for poorly optimizing it. Sure, one can play with a rig that's lower than the requirements (that's what I did with Warframe), but the game won't play on all it's glory. And I won't spend $500 every 4-5 years to update my rig.
I'm not bashing the PC at all. I'm just basing my opinion by firsthand experience. For me, consoles are the way to go.
