3DS isn't the strongest in US and Europe (Last US, 750k~ in Nov and 1.2m in Dec) Sales are down 50% yoy, so I have no idea what he is talking about, the west needs the new 3DS badly.

Sales this holiday will show this.

They probably have tons of unsold stock of the old 3ds models. So they probably want to clear those stocks  before releasing the new models because the new models will cause sales of the old models to crash.
