#1: Not everyone has SD cards. #2: SD cards are not enough to hold all the DLC you need for games. #3: I'm not anti-Nintendo, I'm mad that my Wii isn't as good as it should be. If I was just playing Rock Band, I guess a 2GB stick would be large enough, but it's not just Rock Band's problem! I'm currently using tens of gigs for content on my PS3, and not being able to do the same thing with Wii games and demos is annoying. If it was possible for Harmonix to stream songs from an SD card, and Nintendo let them do DLC (what other games have official DLC, btw? Where can I go on my Wii to download that?), then they should have the option. They should also have the option for online play on both the PS2 and Wii versions, not that I see much use in that personally (unlike a lot of games which need online play such as Mario Kart). I just don't see how you can expect Harmonix to go out of their way to get Nintendo to allow them to do all of these things when most people just have the 512MB of space that isn't just used for Rock Band. |
But from all of our knowlege Harmonix doesn't have to get Nintendo to do anything to take advantage of the Wii's SD card adapter; on top of that not everyone has a hard-drive for the XBox 360 yet Harmonix found a way to have downloadable content for the XBox 360.
I don't think that anyone here is saying that Nintendo's approach to storage space or online games is great (or even particularly good) but I think everyone will admit that it is adequate to provide the content that Harmonix claims can not be done; this means that Harmonix is lying, probably to pass the buck and place the blame for their shoddy port on Nintendo.
