Since there are cheaper blu rays out there, the argument about the ps3 being sold primarily as a blu ray player is pretty much moot right now.

think about it, you may not run to the ps3 for a shooter, but for some reason that is beyond me, the US loves shooters and people will buy it for them. You got a sequel to a stealth shooter in MGS4, a sequel to a run and gun shooters in R2 and KZ2, and KZ2 has been hyped for years now. Add in another hyped game in Haze and shooter fans are going to buy a ps3 because they are shooter fans and there are big ones coming out.

As for the PS3 catching up, it might narrow the gap pretty well, may even catch up, but the year head start did one thing for Microsoft, guaranteed them that the 360 wouldn't get greatly outsold in the US by the PS3. It cost them several billion, along with one billion more to fix their rrod, but they got what they wanted. The fact that the PS3 has been keeping pace and outselling the 360 lately with a higher price tag and the stigma of "no games" would worry me if I was Microsoft though.
