I've never in my life seens somebody eat a McRib and then say it was good or worth it. I've seen people excited for it, but that gives way to disappointment or regret afterwards. Kids loving tickle me elmo isn't a big deal either, especially since the audience they were aiming for can't tell the difference between fact, fiction, and advertising. Their parents were made to get them because of advertising to the child and the parent. Children just wanted it, and parents were told it was the hottest toy ever and they'd be a disappointment if they didn't have one under the tree come christmas. So people excited bought sandwiches that were custom made to give you indegestion and diarhea and a toy that annoyed the f*ck out of them 24/7. Why did those people want those things? Advertising. Have you ever sat in on a college class on advertising? It's a guide to being a horrible person and convincing people garbage is good. The director for CoD essentially came out and admitted that it's better to make people think they want something through advertising, before they buy it, than to make a product they'll actually want to play.
And I'm not getting angry or something, this is my "Normal." |
So because you have NEVER seen anyoen get a McRib and say it was good or worth it then that alone proves your point? How? What kind of evidence is that. So I guess because I am at work and just randomly asked 8 people about the McRib and literally 7 out of the 8 stated that they loved the McRib that automatically makes what you said nonsense? I mean seeing as that is what you are using to make your point seem true personal life experiences right? Also guess what if it was like you said were no one liked the McRib it would have never been brought back nor would it CONTINUE to sell so well. Lots of items have been advertised and placed on fast food menus as being awesome that were not and guess what happened they never lasted even with all the advertising that they had.
And LOTS of toys are advertised to children as the hottest toy ever JUST LIKE the Tickle Me Elmo and kids want them as well yet they do not sale anywhere near as well it does. Here is something else for you certain beer is advertised as the best tasking thing in the universe yet I have NEVER drank in my life. Nor have I wanted to do so. But that doesn't mean it is horrible or that it sells only because it is advertised well. People have to actually liek it for it to continue to do so. You can't use personal things that have happened and make them into fact for something.
Point being while advertising is important it is not the end all that will make something all of a sudden explode. If people don't want something no matter how much you "advertise" it they still are not going to get it. Word of mouth gets out fast about things so if it is advertised as AMAZING and peope buy it and find out that it is not then it will fade into oblivion prety dang on fast due to word of mouth by consumers.
The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...
