SSBU Question: How will the 8 Controllers work?

I thought that you were limited to 5 wireless controllers (including the gamepad), and that you had to use 3 3DS/GC Controllers to make up the next 3 spots, but apparently according to the official site you can use as many Pro Controllers/Wiimotes as you want.
