Will Sony counter? The way I see it if Sony match this promotion the number of PS4's sold this holiday will dramatically increase. I mean the sort of increase that it's probably impossible for them to meet the demand. I, unlike most people around here, don't believe discounts matter all that much. The Gamecube launched at $199.99, a full $99.99 cheaper than the PS2 and we ALL know how that went. Hell, the damned thing even dropped to $99.99 and it still didn't do anything. 

If people want a PS4 more, a price drop's not changing anything because why should it? Think about it yourself. Would you buy a console you don't want just to save $49.99? lol It makes no sense. 


You've got to think about the parents who go out not really knowing what their kid wants and picks up the cheapest one. It happens.

I doubt it. People have christmas lists and as kids, we all TELL our parents what console we want. If you're a parent, and little Johnny wants console X, but it's too expensive and you see console Z... you don't buy console Z because why would you want to buy something your son doesn't want and didn't ask for? And even IF they did something that stupid, the kid would ask to return it the moment stores opened lol.
