I expect UE4 in 2010. UT4 will be out in 2010 as well.
As for the argument that HD gaming is to costly and to soon due to Sony and Microsoft jumped the gun with advanced hardware, like Sony did with the PS2. Why dont you look towards Crysis. I would basically say that Crysis is a jump past current console offerings.. blame EA before you blame Sony and Microsoft.
