3DS one will still cannibalize the Wii U one, more non-hardcore fans exist than hardcore fans, there's already one for 3DS, many will be satisfied with it, and want nothing to do with the Wii U one, and will most definitely not buy a $300 console for one game. Having new modes isn't going to attract people suddenly, other than the fans.
But geesh, there have been so many people talking negatively about the 3DS one, it outselling the Wii U one will make the whole situation pretty funny.
