I don't think there will be an Animal Crossing on Wii U.

It will be transferred to be a launch title for the Nintendo Fusion/3DS successor in 2016.

And it will be a much smarter move, because it will end up selling a lot more as a result.

Wii U will get a new Zelda, and probably a new Metroid, but I think Animal Crossing and Mario Galaxy 3 have already been shifted over as early Fusion products for a while now.

Nintendo knows they cannot repeat the Wii U/3DS launches with the 3DS successor (Fusion). They will need their big guns ready there early on.

Besides I think Animal Crossing has become a more portable centric franchise for a while now. The Wii game did not sell to Nintendo's expectations, it's unlikely a Wii U version would given its far worse install base.

If I had to guess I'd say the following projects are in development for Wii U past 2014:

Legend of Zelda U (2015), Xenoblade (2015), Splatoon (2015), Mario Maker (2015), Kirby Rainbow Curse (2015), Yoshi's Wooly World (2015), Mario Party 10 (2015), Devil's Third (2015), Pokken Fighters (2016), Star Fox (2016), Metroid Hunters U (2016), SMT x Fire Emblem (2016), Diddy Kong Racing U (2016).

However, I would say Mario Galaxy 3 (2016), Animal Crossing Next (2016), Luigi's Mansion 3 (2016/17), Mario Kart 9 (2016/17) are already in development for the Fusion/3DS successor. Maybe even something like SMT x Fire Emblem has been transferred to be in development for both Fusion + Wii U.
