And not to mention the whole "the e3 2012 textures were in the gamefiles but they just weren't activiated" nonsense as well... And sure, if you win a lot of awards, you would show them off but if ur game isn't as good as they say it is, then maybe you should be careful with how you present them so they the consumer doesn't get freakishly over hyped 2) And sure, its lazy but lets be honest, these companies have been around for over decades and they should know by now on what gets a consumer excited and what doesn't. We are giving them our hard earned money and all we ask is for them to meet our expectations which they didn't. And its quite hard for consumers to do research during pre-release cause of the review embargos and usually, the content thats avaliable in pre-release are staged And skyward sword was dissappointing and it was Nintendo's fault for setting up the hype.. Nintendo claimed that there wouldn't be any issues with the wii motion plus and its montion sensing capabilities but there was and the whole game in general wasn't all that it was cut out to be from the trailers. I bought the game day 1 with the gold wiimote bundle and I was still dissappointed by it cause the moments when my motion control derped, it got me out of the immersion of the game... And not to mention, the game had that save bug where it would corrupt ur save file after u got to a certain point. It got fixed eventually but thats still bad |
1) Ok. I'll admit that they deserve to be bashed for screwing over PC owners. I hate when developers hold a game back simply because another system / platform can't handle it. That is pretty dirty. As for the Bolded 1, Again, if you wanted to sell something and got a ton of good press claiming it as the next big thing, wouldn't you use it? Who in the right mind would say "Don't listen to the hype, our game isn't all that amazing"? I actually don't think it's being shady. Bungie / Activision probably did believe that they had a great game on their hands, the press helped fuel their idea of that, and they marketed it as such. Nothing at all wrong with that.
2) They do know what gets consumers excited and they have every right to use that to their advantage. Again, it's a business at the end of the day. It's up to the consumer to judge for themselves if it's worth their money or not. It's simply too hard to meet everyone's expectations, I'm sure they tried. They didn't say "Let's make a bad game and then pretend it's great so people will buy it". As for the 2nd bolded, nobody forces anyone to buy the game on day one or preorder.
Every Zelda gets hyped to the high heavens, Nintendo was bound to fail to meet the ridiculous expectations sometime. Plus, you know as well as I do that Nintendo / Miyamoto actually though that Skyward Sword was gaming gold
