I have played all the PGR games, and I'm more addicted to DC now than I ever was to PGR, which was great as well. It's the tracks that make DC so great, very well constructed and a joy to drive over and over. WIth 25 unique ones there's plenty of variety. PGR had very good city tracks, yet driving on DCs narrow winding mountain tracks adds a whole new layer of excitement.
The handling is much closer to PGR than a sim. DC does do all the individual tire, suspension, weight calculations giving it a realistic feel, yet it also turns up the grip and acceleration to give it the excitement of an arcade racer. It has a excellent difficulty curve, strarting of easy with the hot hatch cars, yet mastering the Venom GT hyper car takes all your concentration. And hitting the wrong bump at 370 km/h is not recommended, although spectacular :)
You have to brake before corners indicated by color coded flags along the tracks. You can also handbrake, power drift though corners which takes quite a bit of skill. (It's no ridge racer) Drift events are part of the campaign.
