I can see an on-foot mission working. I can also see it backfiring terribly. This is the sort of thing Nintendo would need to heavily play-test to make sure it works before going ahead with it. There likely needs to be a narrative reason why Fox & Co. cannot do this mission in an arwing, which basically requires a stronger narrative than I think a good Star Fox game should aim for. Star Fox is a stage game, not an RPG.

That said, being shot down is any pilot's worst nightmare and there IS a lot of dramatic potential there.

Otherwise, I largely agree. I'd like Nintendo to focus on nailing dogfight controls for all-range combat, because for any system stronger than an N64 dogfights are a must, and to be honest this is where Star Fox 64 kinda struggled.

I think that if I had any problem with the OP it's that it's too much a Star Fox 64 ++ edition and not enough of its own thing. The additions are great, but they're fundamentally bells and whistles tacked onto a solid gameplay. For older Star Fox players (like me) who have been playing it for years this could really be a problem. Nintendo needs to innovate the core gameplay somehow without breaking the feel, and that is not an easy task.
