As a die hard fan who played the original PS1 game AS IT RELEASED... I can assure you, RE4 was the end. Yes, it was a great horror action...ACTION game... but it was not survival horror. RE1-CV were all in the same style. RE4 was a completely different game. It should have been a new IP imo and if they were going to stop making true RE games then they should have done just that and killed the franchise because it died the moment RE4 launched anyway.
