After a mixed reaction to its reveal and release, I started becoming mildly interested in the console by early 2013. When I saw the Xbox One reveal I assumed it was going to be a pretty bad console and instantly knew my choice this generation was going to be the PS4 - though the Wii U was still a possibility.

Then, what happened was that when the PS4 was actually revealed, I never felt that mind-blowing "next-gen" feel from it. Rather, it just felt like more of the same to me, it was like the PS3 but with better graphics and even then the graphics weren't that incredible. That's when I started shifting thought to the Wii U.

All very nice points, and I too felt like the PS4/Xbone are more of the same. Sort of like simply upgrading an iphone to its latest model. I also felt people swarmed to the PS4 because of just that, it is more of the same, with no surprises.

To me the Wii U is a gaming device at heart, where I can have fun playing it with a room full of people.
